To set Flinders Port Holdings up as a quality ports and logistics services company, we needed to increase usability and responsiveness for mobile and tablet users, engage visitors with consistent branding and great content, make navigation simple, and provide a platform to gather important customer information. We backed this up with a comprehensive growth strategy to help potential customers find out about the relatively new company organically, and drive traffic through to the website by using digital channels, like the newsletter and social media.
A great user experience was key to achieving these goals. With our aim to get visitors to the website to either submit an enquiry or register for the newsletter, our solution needed to have a strong user experience and be full of useful content. Even though only 16% of visitors were arriving on mobile devices, it’s a rapidly growing area for the organisation, so it makes sense to provide a good experience on any platform. We also implemented better calls to action, uniform branding across all five Flinders Port Holdings sites, more strategically written content, a regularly updated news section, and integrated a google maps tool for their locations.
Using a WordPress multi-site content management system, we created custom templates to make sure all five Flinders Port Holdings websites that were being upgraded at the same time had consistent branding and fit together well. Some of the features we’re most proud of include navigation that sticks to the top of page when you scroll down, integrated tools for easy social media sharing, an advanced full width multi-column dropdown menu, and upgraded search tools.

All of this was backed up by a robust search engine optimisation strategy that we continue to work with on an ongoing basis.
