Google Releases Panda 4.0 Update

Google’s Matt Cutts announced over Twitter that they in the process of rolling out Google’s latest search algorithm updates; Panda 4.0 and Payday Loan 2.0.


The Payday Loan algorithm update is targeted at specifically at spammy keywords like payday loans, insurance, accidental claim ect ect. The algorithms aim is to weed out the typically spammy websites that appear that the top of those rankings. This update is unlikely to affect most people, with English queries being affected by around 0.2%.

Google has been steadily releasing updates for panda every few months since the start of 2011. Panda 4.0 appears to be one of the more prominent updates for Google who are estimating the update will effect ~7.5% of English search queries. The overarching idea behind the panda update is to prevent sites with poor quality content from working their way into Google’s top search results. So now more than ever it is paramount to have high quality content.
